Futuro Remoto 2020 - The Big Brother of Biomedical Research
Futuro Remoto is an event born with great foresight 34 years ago, in 1987. Promoted by Città della Scienza of Naples, this is the first Festival of Science in Europe, with the urgency to create a dialogue between science and society. At the base there is the concept that scientific knowledge is a resource for everyone and it is important to help especially young people to move in the crowded world of information and online content, fighting fake news and offering opportunities for knowledge and method in the reading of reality.
Futuro Remoto 2020 proposed a journey through the metamorphosis of our planet due to climate change and major events of "planetary" dimension, such as the Covid19 pandemic. Taking advantage of a lesson that comes from the pandemic, Futuro Remoto 2020 looks forward: the essential role of scientific and technological research for our well-being and that of the planet, and in particular in the biomedical and computer science sectors.
The Department of Molecular Medicine and Medical Biotechnology participated in Futuro Remoto 2020 with an initiative called:
The Big Brother of Biomedical Research.
The proposal is that of an "adventure in the research laboratories"; the possibility of telematic access to research laboratories with the possibility of witnessing experiments in progress and interacting with the researchers who are performing them, during all phases of design, preparation, execution, obtaining and analyzing results. The participant enters a laboratory during its real activity to spy on what is happening, to dialogue, to interpret what remains obscure, to make his comments and proposals.
